STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION (SSC)

Introduction

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) (Hindi: कर्मचारी चयन आयोग) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices.
This commission is an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) which consists of Chairman, two Members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations. His post is equivalent to the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

Examination

Graduate Level – Assistants, Auditors/ Jr. Accountants/ Upper Division Clerks, Divisional Accountants, Inspectors of Income Tax/ Central Excise, Sub-Inspectors in Central Police Organizations (CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB) CBI, Section Officer (Commercial) and Section Officer (Audit).

10+2 Level – Stenographer Grade `C`, Stenographer Grade `D` and Lower Division Clerks.

Direct interviews are held for some posts which are known as Selection Posts such as Statistical Assistant, Store Keeper, Jr. /Sr. Computer Assistant, Information Assistant, etc. Applications for such post are invited through advertisements, as and when such vacancies are reported to the Commission.

SSC Exam Eligibility:-

Graduate level

Educational Qualification- Bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Age Limit- Applicants aged between 18 and 27 years of age are eligible to apply.

10+2 level

Educational Qualification- Should have passed 10+2 or equivalent or higher examination from a recognized board or university.

Age Limit- Candidates aged between 18 and 27 years of age are eligible to apply.

Age Relaxation is common for both levels

  • OBC-03 years
  • PH- 10 years
  • PH+OBC- 13 years
  • PH+ SC/ST- 15 years

The SSC CHSL Exam is administered and conducted by Staff Selection Commission for the selection of candidates for recruitment to the post of Postal Assistants / Sorting Assistants, Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Lower Division Clerks (LDC) in various govt. departments & ministries.

SSC conducts a national level written examination for the recruitment of SI in Delhi Police DP and central armed police force CAPF, assistant sub inspector in central industrial security force CISF, and intelligence officer IO in narcotics control bureau NCB.

The Combined Graduate Level Examination will be held in three tiers. The pattern of each tier of the examination has been explained below.

Pattern of Tier -I of the SSC CGL 2015 Exam

  • Tier I of the Combined Graduate Level Examination will be common for all the posts.
  • There will be four parts with questions of objective multiple choice type.
  • Questions in respect of Parts A, B and C of Tier I, will be set in both Hindi and English.
  • Negative Marking of 0.25 marks will be applicable for each incorrect answer.
  • General category candidates will be allowed a duration of 120 minutes to complete their exam,

while candidates from the VH category will be allowed an extra 30 minutes to complete the exam.

Pattern of Tier –II of the SSC CGL 2015 Exam

  • Only candidates, who qualify Tier I of the SSC CGL Exam, will be allowed to appear for Tier II of the examination.
  • Paper I and Paper II of the Tier II Examination is compulsory for all categories of posts, Paper III however needs to be attempted only by those candidates who have applied for the post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler.
  • All the questions will be of objective multiple choice type and the questions in respect of Paper I and Paper III will be set in both Hindi and English.
  • For Paper I and Paper III, negative marking of 0.50 marks will be applicable for each incorrect answer and for Paper II, 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
Pattern of Tier III of the SSC CGL 2015 Exam :

Tier III of the SSC CGL Exam will include an Interview cum Personality Test/Data Entry Speed Test/Computer Proficiency Test, depending on the posts.
