Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)

Introduction

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is ready to conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for appointing eligible candidates to vacant seats of Teachers for classes I to VIII. The eligible candidates have to send the duly filled online application with fee challan copy.
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will organize 9th Edition on 21 February 2016 and 10th Edition on 18th September 2016. The Selected candidates will be appointed as Primary Level Teacher for Classes I-V or Junior Level Teacher for Classes VI-VIII after evaluating their performance in the written examination.
The CTET examination will contain objective type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ’s). There will be no negative marking. There will be 2 papers of CTET.
Paper I: The candidates who are eligible for classes I to V teacher.
Paper II: The candidates who are eligible for classes VI to VIII teacher.

Note: A person who are eligible for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to give both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

The questions in the test for Paper I will be based on the topics prescribed in syllabus of the NCERT/CBSE for classes I – V but their difficulty standard as well as linkages, could be up to the Secondary stage.

The questions in the test for Paper I will be based on the topics prescribed in syllabus of the NCERT/CBSE for classes I – V but their difficulty standard as well as linkages, could be up to the Secondary stage.

Both the examination will be of two and a half Hrs duration.

The questions in the test for Paper II will be based on the topics prescribed in syllabus of the NCERT/CBSE for classes VI – VIII but their difficulty standard as well as linkages, could be up to the Senior Secondary stage.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must possess the mentioned minimum educational qualification to be eligible for appearing in CTET.

Educational Qualifications for Classes I-V (Primary Stage) Teacher

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), according to the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Educational Qualification for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage) Teacher

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with a minimum of 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
OR
Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and appearing or passed in 1-year B.Ed. (SpecialEducation).

Note: The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled categories can avail relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility to apply.

Final year appearing candidates of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are admitted provisionally and their CTET Certificate will be valid only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.
